Story
Chongqing, Located at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, Chongqing is a majestic city crisscrossed by rivers and mountains. Known as the 'Mountain City', Chongqing comes with over 3000 years of history and is a common stop for tourists interested in its rich history.
Every year, the Chongqing TV station shoots a city promotional video to attract people from around the world to travel the city to enjoy its many offerings. They used aerial photography to film the city's landscape from different viewpoints, and used a Sony 4K camera to acquire high resolution video.
Challenge
Shooting high resolution aerial footage with a 4K camera can create many challenges.
For the shooting, a Sony F55 was used and with this, over 90 minutes of footage was acquired in RAW 50P 2.4 Gb/s mode, which is 300MB/s of steaming. The task of editing required the use of several different MAC workstations for post-production. With the use of 4K footage, transferring data between different workstations can be burdensome and time-consuming for any editing team.
As Chongqing consists of 19 districts, 17 counties, and 4 autonomous counties, the shooting team had its hands full in finishing the filming of such a spacious area, and consequently, post-production personnel were left in quite a time crunch.
