Accusys ExaSAN Receives Blackmagic Design Certification

Blackmagic Design creates the world’s highest quality video editing products, color correctors, video converters, video monitoring, routers, live production switchers, disk recorders, waveform monitors and film restoration software for the feature film, post production and television broadcast industries. Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve has been used to grade more feature films, television commercials, documentaries, episodic television production and music videos than any other color grading system - including box-office hits Avatar, The Fighter, Robin Hood and Transformers. Today, Accusys is pleased to announce that the Accusys A08S-PS, 8 Bay RAID storage system has been certified by Blackmagic Design for use with their DaVinci Resolve on Mac high-end color grading correction workstations.

Working effectively with the DaVinci Resolve from Blackmagic Design requires a storage solution with the flexibility to meet changing high bandwidth environments. Meeting these demands, and ideal for high-end video-editing applications, is the Accusys A08S-PS storage system. It has an 8 Bay tower RAID storage system supporting eight (8) 3Gb SAS/ SATA II disk drives and is able to provide approx. 780MB/s of throughput in RAID 5 configuration. Its Accusys RAID engine is powered by Intel Xscale technology and the A08S-PS supports six types of RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 0+1 and JBOD). A min. of 300MB/s is required to process 2k DPK file. The A08S-PS satisfies all these requirements for video capture, color grading, color correction, editing and playback workflows. The Accusys A08S-PS storage solution and your Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve provide everything your post production studio requires to meet the artistic and technical demands of the media post-production industry.

Combined with the Accusys SW08-G2 Compact Solution package, the A08S-PS storage system is expandable to up to 8 workstations accessing storage simultaneously to easily upgrade shared media content access. Equipped with an optional dual port HBA, the A08S-PS is able to reach approx. 1400MB/s and 48TB of storage capacity by striping two A08S-PS systems. The Accusys A08S-PS storage system greatly reduces waiting time for data file transfers and increases productivity through shared storage. Best of all, it allows creative professionals to work with multiple streams of uncompressed HD video to complete projects at record speeds.
